Biography
Born on August 14, 1902 in the village of Ochizha, now Chervensky district, Minsk region of Belarus, in a peasant family. Byelorussian. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1943. In 1940 he graduated from the Minsk Pedagogical Institute. He worked as a teacher in the village of Gorki, Chervensky district.
With the beginning of World War II , in July 1941, he was drafted into the Red Army . At the front - since January 1942. He received baptism of fire near Kharkov.
Retreated to the Don and further - to the Volga. On the Don River, he crossed at night with a branch to the right bank left the day before. Tarlovsky’s fighters took the fight, holding back the advancing Nazis. He personally shot 17 Nazis from a machine gun. For this business he received the first award - the medal "For Military Merit". In the summer of 1943, he fought in the Oryol region. One on one on the Belgorod highway grappled with a German tank. He broke a caterpillar with a grenade and burned a steel car with a bottle of combustible mixture.
In 1943 he became an officer. He graduated from courses of deputy company commanders for political affairs in the 65th Army, and courses for improving the command staff of the 6th Guards Army.
Under Velikiye Luki, commanding a company, Senior Lieutenant Tarlovsky received an order to recapture a well-fortified skyscraper at night: four guns and several machine-gun nests. At night, the company fighters, carefully disguising themselves, crept right into the forehead to the trenches and suddenly burst into enemy positions. The task was completed. Then there were fights for the liberation of his native Belarus.
He distinguished himself in battles during the breakthrough of enemy defenses and forcing the Zapadnaya Dvina River in June 1944. The company of Senior Lieutenant Tarlovsky was the lead in the regiment, which was marching on the main direction of the breakthrough. The Germans surrendered the first line of trenches without resistance. The company, not stopping, rushed on, but, pressed by mortar fire, lay down. With a machine gun in his hands, Tarlovsky raised the soldier to attack. Having crossed the water barrier in the area of the village of Bui, the company mounted the highway and cut off the escape route for the enemy.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 22, 1944, for the exemplary performance of command assignments and the courage and heroism shown in battles with the Nazi invaders of the guard, senior lieutenant Tarlovsky Vasily Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal .
In 1944, in the autumn battles, Tarlovsky was seriously wounded. Until January 1945, he was treated in a hospital in the city of Ivanovo, the medical board was declared unfit for military service. He never returned to the front. After the war, he continued to serve in the army until 1953. Dismissed to the reserve with the rank of major from the post of senior officer of the 2nd branch of the Stalin district military enlistment office of the city of Ivanovo.
Remained to live in the city of Ivanovo in the homeland of his wife. Tarlovsky’s parents died during the years of occupation and there was no one to return to their homeland. For some time he worked at the Ivanovo Medical Institute, then returned to his civilian profession - a school teacher. Until 1956, he worked as a physics teacher at school No. 54. He died on October 3, 1990. He was buried at the Bogorodsky cemetery in Ivanovo.
He was awarded the Orders of Lenin , World War 1 degree, the medal "For Military Merit", and other medals. In May 2011, in the city of Ivanovo, on the house where the Hero lived, a memorial plaque was installed (March 8 st., Building 19).
