About the album
After the release of the second album, The Fury of The Aquabats! , the collective was entrenched with the status of a “trashy ska group”, in which, according to the musicians, they felt uncomfortable [3] . The members of The Aquabats unanimously agreed to develop in a slightly different direction, somewhat different from the musical style of the previous records. During the work on the new album about 40 tracks were recorded. 14 of them were selected for The Aquabats vs. the Floating Eye of Death! , some of the remaining songs were released in November 2000 as part of the album Myths, Legends and Other Amazing Adventures, Vol. 2 and posted on the official website of The Aquabats [4] .
The Aquabats vs. the Floating Eye of Death! more focused on electronic music . In addition to the active use of synthesizers , when recording a disc, musicians used and wind instruments . However, the change of musical style was perceived by fans of the group is extremely ambiguous, because of what The Aquabats vs. the Floating Eye of Death! could not surpass the success of the first two studio works of the group [5] .
The release of The Aquabats vs. the Floating Eye of Death! , new band project, comedy series The Aquabats! In Color! The Walt Disney Company was not interested, which nullified all the work done. The team members in one of the later interviews admitted that the failure of The Aquabats vs. the Floating Eye of Death! and The Aquabats! In Color! broke the group and led to a dead end [6] .
