Biography
In 1963 he graduated from the 41st secondary school and continued his studies at the geological department of the Polytechnic Institute.
In 1985 he entered the Mtskheta Theological Seminary , from which he graduated in 1988.
On August 19, 1987, Catholicos-Patriarch Elijah II ordained a deacon , and on April 24, 1988, as a presbyter .
On February 8, 1989, he was appointed protopresbyter of Sioni Cathedral and rector of the Theological Academy and Seminary. He remained in this position until July 19, 1993, when the chairman of the training committee of the Georgian Orthodox Church was appointed.
Since 2002, he was mentioned as Chairman of the Bible Commission of the Georgian Church, and in 2007 as Vice-Rector of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary and Chairman of the Educational Committee of the Patriarchate.
By a decision of June 27, 2008, at the suggestion of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II , the Holy Synod of the Georgian Orthodox Church decided to appoint Father George as Bishop of Tsurtav, the second Catholicos choreographer.
On September 11, 2008, Archimandrite Iliy (Nasidze) was tonsured a monk with the name John.
The episcopal consecration took place on September 14, 2008.
