Biography
Born April 8, 1924 in the city of Odessa in a working class family. Russian. Member of the CPSU since 1953. Pupil of the first state showcase Children's Town named after the Comintern. He graduated from 7 classes, a vocational school majoring in electrician. By distribution, the Dzhambul region of Kazakhstan left. In 1942 he graduated from the Dzhambul railway school.
In 1942, ascribing himself a year, he volunteered for the Red Army through the Dzhambul district military enlistment office. In the army since January 1943. He fought on the 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian fronts. In August 1943 he was wounded, returned to duty. After the hospital, he fought in the 795th Infantry Regiment of the 228th Infantry Division, and commanded a rifle platoon. He particularly distinguished himself in the battles in Hungary during the crossing of the Tisza River.
On October 9, 1944, he was the first to withdraw his platoon to the left bank of the Tisza River near the city of Tisafured, raised a platoon to attack, knocked the enemy out of position, a river without losses was forced on the shoulders of the retreating enemy and burst onto the right bank. In the battle on the captured bridgehead he was seriously wounded, but did not leave the battle and continued to command the battle. With machine gun fire and a dagger, he destroyed three enemy soldiers. The platoon firmly established itself in the captured positions, repelled 4 counterattacks and held the line until the rest of the units approached.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown to this, Sergeant Petr Vasilievich Tomasevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " .
He never returned to the front. After lengthy treatment in hospitals, on the eve of Victory, he was commissioned.
He worked at the factory named after the January Uprising. In 1968 he graduated from the Odessa Naval College of Fisheries. For more than a quarter of a century he worked on the ships of the Black Sea Shipping Company: fireman, mechanic, mechanic, since 1970 - first assistant to the captain, worked on the ships Novovoronezh, Agostinho Net, Salvador Allende, Sayan, Captain Smirnov. He was awarded the Order of Lenin , medals.
His name is immortalized on the Board of Heroes on Theater Square in Odessa and on the stele “Wings of Victory”, erected in honor of the 40th anniversary of the liberation of Odessa. A memorial plaque is installed on the building of the Law College of the National University "Odessa Law Academy".
