In 1401, Odon sells the County of Geneva to Amadeus VIII , the Duke of Savoy, but his heirs dispute the possession of the county from Amadeus. Only in 1424 , after 23 years of battles and ships, Amadeus VIII redeems from all applicants all rights to the Geneva county.

Since 1424, the county of Geneva belongs to the Dukes of Savoy, with the exception of periods when it is given up to the younger sons of the House of Savoy .
