Hongyuan ( Chinese р 原 п , pinyin : Hóngyuán ) is a county of Ngava-Tibet-Qiang Autonomous District of Sichuan Province ( PRC ). The county government is located in the village of Qunxi. The name of the county means “red source”.

History
In 1935-1936, the Red Army of China passed through these places during the Great Campaign . In memory of these events, Hongyuan County was established in 1960 as part of the Ngava-Tibet Autonomous Region (阿坝 藏族 自治州). In 1987, the Ngava-Tibet Autonomous Region was renamed the Ngava-Tibet-Qiang Autonomous Region.
