Biography

Vladimir Panasyuk was born on July 15, 1913 in the village of Slyusarevo (now - the Savransky district of Odessa region of Ukraine ). After graduating from the agricultural technical school he worked as a livestock specialist. In 1938, Panasyuk was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In the same year he graduated from junior lieutenant courses and was sacked. In 1941, Panasyuk was again drafted into the army. From the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .

By January 1945, Major Vladimir Panasyuk commanded a battalion of the 280th Infantry Regiment of the 185th Infantry Division of the 47th Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . On January 15, 1945, the Panasyuk battalion successfully broke through the German defenses near the village of Legionovo and crossed the Vistula River, capturing a bridgehead on its western shore. He personally participated in the battles, destroying 4 enemy soldiers and capturing 1 more. On January 19, 1945, the Panasyuk battalion inflicted heavy losses on the enemy in battle near the village of Aleksandrów ( pl: Aleksandrów (gmina Żychlin) ), 27 kilometers northwest of the town of Lovich . February 26, 1945 Panasyuk died in battle. He was buried southwest of the village of Neu Mellentin ( pl: Mielęcinek ) 10 kilometers south of the town of Pyrzyce [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 6, 1945, Major Vladimir Panasyuk was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Orders of Lenin and the Red Banner [1] .
