Battle
Early in the morning, after four hours, the Lithuanian rebels stumbled upon Russian forces (2.5 - 3 thousand people), who, believing in their superiority, began to attack. The Lithuanians met the Russian infantry with massive artillery fire, forcing the enemy to stop.
Then, for almost four hours, both sides exchanged artillery fire. Lithuanian gunners showed their superiority by blowing up two carts of ammunition from the enemy, and they themselves lost only one. Lieutenant General Romuald Gedroitz sent his infantry into the attack along with pikemen and kosenery. A sudden attack by the Lithuanians forced the Russians to line up in a square for a successful defense.
Prince Romuald Gedroits threw Lithuanian cavalry to the rear of the Russian square , and sent infantry to the flanks with the support of artillery fire. As a result of the Lithuanian attacks, the Russian square was torn apart. Russian soldiers began to retreat in panic, many drowned in the river. Lithuanians seized guns, ammunition and a large amount of ammunition.
Despite the Russians' superiority in numbers and armaments, Lithuanian rebels defeated the regular tsarist army.
