Ciliated gecko-bananoyed [1] ( Correlophus ciliatus ) - has long been considered a very rare species of gecko from the genus Rhacodactylus (amended to the genus Correlophus) is now actively distributed among breeders . Endemic of the island of New Caledonia . Body color varies, and may be gray, brown, green, pale yellow and red-red. It lives in the upper tier of rain forests. Active at night and twilight. The words “ciliated” or “comb” appeared in the name of the gecko because of a peculiar serrated row of spikes that are located along the entire length of the back of the lizard. Both males and females average 16-18 cm long, with a tail. They become sexually mature at the age of 15 to 18 months, with a weight of 35-45 grams. With good maintenance, they can live up to 8-15 years.

Nutrition
The gecko banana-eater is an omnivorous animal. He uses both animal and plant foods, but due to the peculiarities of the structure of the jaw, he is not able to swallow large pieces. It feeds on fruits (ripe fallen fruits that have already become soft). Often, such fruits do not bite, but lick like mashed potatoes.
The adult gecko eats fruits and insects 3 times a week. The young gecko should be fed a little more often. As soon as a young banana-eater begins to eat insects, a diet should be drawn up so that insects make up at least 2/3 of the diet.
Reproduction
Maturity in banana-eaters occurs after a year (about 15-18 months for females and 10-13 months for males). At the same time, males mature several months earlier than females. However, letting young geckos into the breeding is not worth it, especially it is harmful to the female’s health. Better to wait until she is two years old.
The male and several females are planted together. Fertilization occurs at night. A pregnant female must immediately be removed from the male, otherwise he may harm her. In safety, the lizard will lay and bury two eggs in the ground. The incubation period is from 55 to 75 days.
