Geography
The village of Shumakovo is located in the Solntsevsky district of the Kursk region, 40 km from the center of Kursk in a straight line, and 50 km by road (with access to the P298 highway and to the entrance to the city). Also in a straight line 12 km to the district center of the village of Solntsevo , 100 km to Belgorod , and 180 km to Voronezh .
On the northeastern border of the village lies the Seim river. From the village there are roads leading to Solntsevo, Polevoy and the regional highway connecting the village of Solntsevo with the P298 highway.
History
- Russian empire
The village of Shumakovo was probably founded by one of the nobles of the Shumakov family in the 17th century . In the state archive of the Kursk region preserved revision tales . In them, according to the 3rd revision of 1762, the village of Vyshnye Shumakovo is mentioned. In this village were the possessions of small landowners: Matryona Chapkina, Jacob Shumakov, captain Mikhail Shumakov, Nikita Shumakov, ensign Marfa Shumakova, ensign Joseph Shumakov.
According to the 9th revision of 1859, two villages of Shumakovo are mentioned. Only 13 landowners in the first and 22 landlords in the second villages.
From the period of the abolition of serfdom , statutory letters have been preserved (landlord agreements with peasants on the allocation of land to peasants, on redemption payments). The charter of the landowner Zaikina has been preserved:
“With the expansion of the earth, 3 tithes of the earth fell on every male soul”

In 1888, the Intercession Church was built and the first church parish school in the village opened.
After the Stolypin agrarian reform, in the village of Shumakovo there were 155 yards and 1,084 souls of the population (male - 543, female - 541).
Before the October Revolution, along with small-scale noblemen there were nobles who had rather large estates: the landowner Zakharov had 500 acres of land, the landowner Lyubastrov - 175 acres.

Soviet power was established in the village in 1918. The Council was created in Shumakovo, the first chairman of which was elected a participant in the storming of the Winter Palace, Grigory Anatolyevich Shumakov.
In 1928, the Solntsevsky district was formed, which included the Shumakovsky village council. In 1930, during the period of “complete collectivization ”, four collective farms were organized on the territory of the village council: Trudovik (Mashkino village), Stalin's name, Borets (Shumakovo village) and Dimitrov collective farm (village of Belevtsevsky).
As the collective farm production grew, so did the material support of the collective farmers. An elementary and seven-year school were built in the village.
- The Great Patriotic War
In 1942, fascist military invaders entered the village. During the occupation , 33 civilians were shot, the primary school was destroyed, the seven-year-old was turned into a stable, and the houses of many residents were burned down.
In February 1943, parts of the 60th army of Major General I. D. Chernyakhovsky liberated the village.
In the village of Shumakovo there was an airfield on which the 165th air regiment was based. Shumakovtsy provided all possible assistance to pilots.

Infrastructure
There are 4 asphalt streets in Shumakovo, and one is covered with concrete slabs, the rest of the streets are not covered.
In the village there is a school, a house of culture, a village council, 4 shops, a cemetery, a collective farm, a post office and the Shumakovo railway station.
The longest street is Broad. 1.8 km are uncoated and 0.5 km are coated with concrete slabs. The central street is Stantsionnaya, which is 570 meters paved with asphalt and 450 meters uncoated.
Transport
Regular bus routes from Kursk to Solntsevo and back, as well as from Solntsevo to Field and back follow the village. There is a regular train from Kursk to Belgorod and back.
