Henri Marto International Violin Competition

The Henri Marteau International Violin Competition ( German: Internationaler Violinwettbewerb Henri Marteau ) is an academic music competition held in 2002 in the Bavarian town of Lichtenberg . It bears the name of violinist Henri Marto , who lived and worked in this city for several decades.

The competition was established in 2002 and takes place every three years. Starting from the third competition, it enjoys municipal support. The jury of the competition is led by conductor Gilbert Varga , among the members of the jury in different years were Wanda Vilkomirskaya , Igor Ozim , Ilya Kaler . In the final round, the performances of the contestants are accompanied by the Hof Symphony Orchestra . Since 2011, the composition of the second round includes the composition ordered by the competition; in 2011 it was written by Fazyl Say , in 2014 by Stephen Mackey .
