Biography

Born January 5, 1912 in the family of a bank employee, in the city of Samara , where his father was expelled from St. Petersburg for revolutionary activities. Since childhood, was fond of painting. This hobby, obviously, was transmitted to him from his father by an amateur artist and his famous great-grandfather of the artist P.V. Basin .

In 1922, the family returned to Petrograd (St. Petersburg). In 1929 he graduated from the 17th Labor Unified School in Leningrad ( 2nd St. Petersburg Gymnasium ), then studied at the School of FZU . In 1932 he entered and in 1938 graduated with honors from the Leningrad Institute of Public Utilities Engineers . One of his teachers was the famous architect E.A. Levinson , later co-author.

In 1941, Grushka was drafted into the Red Army . He fought on the Leningrad Front . Platoon commander of the 336th Separate Engineer Battalion. Was injured.

From 1942 to 1945 he worked as an architect in the Main Architectural Directorate. He was engaged in disguising strategic objects.

From 1946 to 1955 he worked at the Lenproject Trust and the Lenmetrotrest Trust.

In 1955-1989 he taught architectural design at LISI (SPbGASU). He was married to the architect I.V. Barsova.

He died in 1989. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Narva-Jõesuu , Estonia . His wife is buried nearby (she died in 1995).

Projects and buildings.

A. A. Grushke in collaboration with architect E. A. Levinson designed the right-bank district of Magnitogorsk , the railway station of Pushkin , the metro station Avtovo , a residential building on the embankment of the Fontanka River 12. Designed the lobby of the metro station Pushkinskaya together with architects A. S. Getskin and V. P. Shuvalova .

Awards and titles.

  • Stalin Prize of the 3rd degree (1951), for the project (together with EA Levinson ) of the ensemble of Railway Station Square in Pushkin .
  • Order of the Badge of Honor (1955)
