Biography

Nikolai Pavlovich Sobolev was born on April 7, 1892 in the city of Dmitrovsk, Orel Province .

He graduated from primary parish and real schools in the city of Rostov-on-Don .

From 1910 to 1912 he worked as a teacher of mathematics at the courses of Ivanitsky in Rostov-on-Don. In 1912 he entered the Petrograd Polytechnic Institute at the shipbuilding department. In 1913 he was sent to the workshops of the river port of Rostov-on-Don, in 1914 - to the workshops of the Petrograd port, from where he was sent for overseas practice in London . He worked at a ship repair enterprise, studied the organization of repair of the hull and ship vehicles. After practice, he returned to Petrograd and worked as a scribbler in the mechanical workshop of the Nevsky Shipyard .

In the years 1916-1917 statistics in the Committee on the supply of fuel in the city of Petrograd .

Since 1918, the designer of the Committee of State Structures of the Supreme Economic Council . In 1919-1920 he was in the city of Dmitrovsk in the Oryol province, worked as a mechanic of the Raisovkhoz — restored and repaired agricultural steam engines.

In 1920, by decree of the Council of People's Commissars, he was seconded to the Polytechnic Institute, which he graduated in 1921.

He was sent to the factory named comrade Lepse ("Red Shipbuilder"), where he worked for the head of the workshop, and then the head of the production plant. From 1924 to 1927 he taught mechanical technology at the factory at the factory.

In 1927 he entered the Bolshevik plant as the head of the distribution bureau of the transport department. In 1928 he was appointed assistant to the chief mechanic of the Marty factory . In 1933-1946 he was the head of the department "Cold Processing of Metals" at the Leningrad Military Mechanical Institute , since 1939 a professor.

In 1942, the chief engineer of the non-ferrous metal plant in the city of Borovichi , then the head of the department "Machine Tools" and the chief technologist of the production workshops of MVTU im. N.E. Bauman .

From 1942 to 1945, director of the Leningrad Military Mechanical Institute.

In combination, associate professor, and then professor at the Leningrad Institute of Precision Mechanics and Optics . Since 1946, professor and head of the department "Instrument Engineering Technologies", and then since 1952 - LITMO Deputy Director for Research.

Nikolai Pavlovich Sobolev was a member of specialized councils: NII-13, NII-303, CNITA, Lensovnarchoz, House of Technics of Leningrad. Under his leadership, 32 graduate students and applicants defended their scientific dissertations. He was the head of research at a number of enterprises, such as: Carburetor plant, GOMZ, Linotype plant, Elektroapparat plant.

Published over 30 scientific papers. The author of inventions.

In 1961 he received the honorary title " Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the RSFSR "

He died on May 3, 1961 . He was buried at the Theological Cemetery in the city of Leningrad.
