Date of birth and entry into military service are unknown.
He served in the Chernigov Dragoon Regiment .
Member of the Patriotic War of 1812 . In the battle of Borodino, Major von der Schruf - the commander of a squadron of the regimental commander Lieutenant Colonel Herzberg of the Chernigov Dragoon Regiment (was slightly wounded). He was seriously wounded at Shevardino on August 24, 1812 . [one]
