Life

Born in 1922 in the village of Shykhly in the Gazakh region of the Azerbaijan SSR . He was captured in the battle of Mozdok in 1942, was held in a prison camp in Austria , from where he escaped with great difficulty and joined the partisan detachment located near the city of Bergamo (Italy). The comrades-in-arms gave him the nickname “Serafino” because of the similarity with the name of his father - Israfil. He fought in the Fiamo Verdi international brigade, shoulder to shoulder with Italians, French, British and Russians. Lieutenant Serafino showed miracles of courage in a battle with the Nazis on April 25, 1945 in Milan . He showed true heroism, like other partisans who fought on the Adriatic coast , such as Mehti Huseynzade and Mirdamet Seyidov. He was awarded the highest awards of Italy, the medal "Star of Garibaldi" , " Antonio Gramsci ", "Banderi Calori", in total was the owner of 36 orders and medals, including 12 government awards. Honorary Citizen of Milan since 1945. T. Isaev was fluent in Italian and German. In 1974, a documentary film “His name was Serafino” was shot about Tahir Isaev.
