The species is widespread in South America . It lives in the basin of the Amazon and Orinoco rivers , in the rivers of Guyana [2] . It prefers warm water with a temperature of 24 to 28 ° C and dense vegetation.
These fish have a transparent body and reach a length of 4.5 cm [2] . They live in large groups. Males are smaller than females.
They feed on small insects and planktonic organisms [2] .
