In the name of the village, the definition of red means beautiful [2] .
Location
The village of Krasnoe is located in the southeastern part of the Orekhovo-Zuevsky district, about 31 km southeast of the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo . Altitude 133 m [3] .
History
In 1851, a stone church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in the village with chapels in honor of St. Nicholas and the holy martyr Agrippina. Later, a bell tower was built and the interior decoration of the church was carried out [4] .
At the time of the abolition of serfdom, the population of the village consisted almost exclusively of clergy and merchants. After 1861, the village became part of the Starovo volost of the Yegoryevsky district. There was a school in the village [5] .
In 1926, the village was part of the Starovsky village council of the Krasnovsky volost of the Yegoryevsky district [6] .
In 1937 the church was closed. In 1991, the Orthodox community of the Assumption Church was registered, and in 1995 regular services were resumed in the church [7] .
Until 2006, Krasnoye was part of the Dorokhovsky rural district of the Orekhovo-Zuevsky district [8] .
Population
In 1885, 53 people lived in the village [9] , in 1905 - 157 people (84 men, 73 women) [10] , in 1926 - 178 people (86 men, 92 women) [6] . According to the 2002 census , 27 people (11 men, 16 women) [11] .
