The main idea of the festival is to attract the attention of a wide audience to modern live music and visual art. The aim of the festival is to search and promote talented young musicians, artists and photographers. The list of festival participants is formed from the winners of the qualifying rounds and eminent headliners.
The organizers of the festival are Creative Autonomy " Uprising Square" and the Creative Workshop "Terminal". The festival is funded by the Administration of the Moscow region of St. Petersburg and the Youth House "Pulkovets" [1] .

In 2012 , the festival was held in St. Petersburg in the Aviators Park on August 11 . The headliners of the festival for the second year in a row became the group 7B and the fourth year in a row the group December . The festival was attended by over 2,500 people. Since 2012, the geography of the festival has expanded: preliminaries took place in St. Petersburg and Moscow , and the event was attended by groups from both capitals and from Tver . Another innovation at the festival was the appearance of a photo gallery near the music scene, where the exhibition “Music of the Living City” was held.

In 2013 , the festival was held in St. Petersburg on the square behind the SUMMER Shopping and Entertainment Complex. August 24th . The headliners of the festival were Animal Jazz and Torba-na-Kruche . The festival was attended by over 5,000 people. The presenters of the festival were Alexander Semenov and the general producer of Alive! Andrey Novikov .
In addition to the music scene, several interactive venues were located on the festival site: two photo exhibitions (“Alter Ego” from Agatha Nigrovskaya and “Music. Made in St. Petersburg. Faces” from Svetlana Speko ); the zone of board games from GaGa Games, as well as the tent of the School of Rock Music Studio, where everyone could try their hand at the drum kit.

In 2017 , the festival was held in St. Petersburg on the square behind the SUMMER Shopping and Entertainment Complex. August 12 and August 13 . The headliners of the first day of the festival for the second year in a row were the Pilot band and the fourth time a group of Torba na Kruche , and the headliner of the second day of the festival was the musician Noize MC and the second time the group Animal Jazz . For the first time, a foreign group performed at the festival and it became a group from Germany JUNO 17.

In 2018, the festival was held in St. Petersburg on the square behind the SUMMER Shopping and Entertainment Complex. August 11 and August 12. The headliners of the first day of the festival were Sergey Bobunets , the Animation group and the second time a group of Bricks , and the headliners of the second day of the festival were the Slot , Refining and Zero People groups for the second time. For the second year in a row, a group from Germany JUNO 17 performed.

Interesting Facts
- The budget of the first "LIVE" amounted to only 8,000 rubles - this money was spent on transport for equipment and meals of participants. Musical equipment, lights, tents and furniture for the festival were assembled "according to friends."
- In 2009, heavy rain fell during the whole festival, as a result of which the “unofficial” motto of the festival appeared - “Rain, music, freedom!”
- In 2011, during the festival "LIVE!" In the club "Cosmonaut" and on the approaches to it, so many fans of live music gathered that worried calls to the local police department rained from residents of neighboring houses. In response to complaints, 5 riot police buses arrived at the building of the concert hall. At the request of law enforcement officials, the festival had to be completed an hour earlier than planned.
- “LIVE!” - 2013 was the record for the number of sold T-shirts with the symbols of the festival (“I LIVE!”) - by the middle of the day, more than 300 of them were sold.
