Tiberius Julius Abdes Panther

Tiberius Julius grave in Bingerbruck.

Tiberius Julius Abdes Pantera ( Latin: Tiberius Iulius Abdes Pantera ; c. 22 BC - 40 ) - an ancient Roman soldier whose grave was discovered in the German in 1859 [1] .

James Tabor hypothesized that the soldier had a historical relationship with Jesus of Nazareth, based on a report by the ancient Greek philosopher Celsus, who wrote that Jesus was born as a result of the relationship between his mother Mary and the soldier. He wrote that she "was convicted of adultery and had a child from a soldier named Panther." Tiberius Panther could serve in Judea at the time of the conception of Jesus. The hypothesis is considered highly unlikely by leading scientists, given the fact that there is no evidence to support it. Historically, the name Panther was not unusual, and it was common among Roman soldiers.
