Horsford was born and raised in Harlem, New York, and began her career as a television producer in the late 1960s. After fifteen years of work in the theater, in 1979 she made her debut in the soap opera “ Guiding Light ”, after which she appeared in the films Times Square (1980), Fan (1981), Class (1983) and Lights St. Elmo "(1985) [1] .
Although Horsford played about a hundred roles, she is best known for her television sitcoms Amen ( NBC , 1986-1991) and The Wayans Brothers ( The WB , 1995-1999). In addition, Horsford starred in several short-lived sitcoms, and was also a guest in Los Angeles Law , Amy Fair , Passion Anatomy , Detective Rush , and New Girl , and from 2005 to 2008 was a minor role in The Shield [2] . On the big screen, she is best known for her mother’s role in the comedies Friday (1995) and Friday after the Next (2002). In 2013, she played a central role in the comedy Christmas Madei .
