Around 394, John was a notary. In 408, he served as a notary public conciliation. Around the year 409, John became the Master of Offices under the henchman of the ready Emperor Priscus Attale . It is known that Attal did not listen to John when he advised him to remove the African committee of Heraclianus with the help of cunning, namely, on behalf of the legitimate sovereign Honorius [1] . John also twice served as prefect of the praetorium of Italy - in 412-413 and 422 years. He was a close friend of the Visigoth king Alaric I.
