Darwin Airline , operating under the Etihad Regional brand since January 2014, is a Swiss regional airline headquartered at Lugano Airport [1] , operating in the field of regular domestic and international passenger traffic in Italy , France , Spain , the UK , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Germany , the Netherlands , Serbia and Switzerland.

Content
History
Darwin Airline was founded on August 12, 2003, and began operations on July 28 of the following year. As of October 2013, 220 people were employed by the carrier [2] .
On November 25, 2010, Darwin Airline announced plans to acquire Baboo early next year. It was assumed that the combined carrier will carry out part of the routes under the previous Baboo brand , the remaining flights will go under the Darwin Airline brand with a significant increase in the frequency of flights to these destinations [3] .
On September 2, 2013, it opened an additional hub at Cambridge Airport , from which regular passenger transportation began to be carried out to Amsterdam (Schiphol) , Paris (Charles de Gaulle) , Milan (Malpensa) and its Geneva hub on Saab 2000 aircraft [4] .
On November 17, 2013, Etihad Airways announced the acquisition of one-third of Darwin Airline's ownership. After the transaction ended in January 2014, the Swiss company continued to service its route network, but already under the Etihad Regional trademark, indicating “operated by Darwin Airline” (“flights are operated by Darwin Airline”) [5] . The first plane in the new coloring flew on January 17, 2014 from Lugano to Geneva; The company announced that all ten Saab 2000 aircraft will be repainted under the new brand by the end of June 2014. Four leased ATR 72-500 liners changed their liveries immediately after they were available to Darwin Airline [6] .
In March 2014, Darwin Airline stopped flights from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Ancona / Falconara Airport and Trapani Airport due to cabotage restrictions in force outside the EU [7] [8] . Two months earlier, for the same reason, the airline was forced to eliminate the regular route from Fiumicino to Aosta Vali Airport [9] .
In February 2014, Etihad Regional stopped flying on regular routes from Berlin to Poznan and Wroclaw [10] , as well as from Rome Fiumicino to Zagreb .
