The early years
Ruben Lautenschlager was born on September 7, 1915 in the city of Oshkosh ( Wisconsin ), where he studied at the school of the same name, in which he played for the local basketball team. In 1938 he graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh , where for three years he played for the Oshkosh Titans team, in which he spent a successful student career. Under the Lautenschlager, the Titans twice won the regular championship of the Wisconsin Inter-University Sports Conference (1936-1937). For three consecutive seasons he was included in the symbolic national team of the conference (1936-1938), and for two consecutive years he became her top scorer (1937-1938).
Professional career
He played as a forward , defender and center . In 1938, Lautenschlager entered into an agreement with the Sheboygan Red Skins team, then playing in the National Basketball League (NBL) , in which he spent his entire sports career. In total, the NBL spent 9 seasons. In the 1942/1943 season , as a teammate of Buddy Jennett , Ken Buchler , Ed Dunker and Ken Susans , he won the Sheboygan Red Skins title . Lautenschlager twice joined the 2nd national team of all the NBL stars ( 1940 , 1944 ) [1] . In total, during his career in the NBL, Ruben played 222 games in which he scored 1442 points (an average of 6.5 per game) [2] . In addition, Lautenschlager as part of the Red Skins participated nine times in the World Professional Basketball Tournament , but without much success.
Death
Ruben Lautenschlager died on January 5, 1992 at the 77th year of his life in the city of Oshkosh ( Wisconsin ) [3] .
