Michèle Kazaczkan is a French physician, researcher, diplomat and human rights activist who is known worldwide for his contributions in the field of HIV / AIDS . On July 20, 2012, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed him UN Special Envoy for HIV / AIDS in Eastern Europe and Central Asia [1] . Prior to that, from February 2007 to March 2012, he was Director of the Global Fund to Fight HIV / AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria .

Professor Kazachkin is also a senior research fellow at the Global Health Program at the Postgraduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva , a member of the Global Commission on Drug Policy and heads the board of the IM Fr. Robert Carr for the development of civil society networks.
Biography
Michel Kazachkin was born in Paris to an immigrant family from Russia [2] . Michel's father worked as an assistant with Nikolai Berdyaev , taking his son to the Russian church [3] .
He studied at the Necker-Enfan-Malad medical school in Paris , studied immunology at the Pasteur Institute and completed postgraduate courses at St. Mary’s Hospital in London and at Harvard Medical School.
He treated the first AIDS patients in 1983, and in 1985 he founded a specialized clinic for the treatment of HIV / AIDS in Paris [4] .
From 1998 to 2005, Professor Kazatchkin was the Director of the (ANRS) [4] .
From 2005 to 2006, Kazachkin served as Deputy Chairman of the Board of the . In 2007, he became Director of the Global Fund. [4] In January 2012, the Global Fund officially announced that Kazachkin would resign in March of this year. [five]
From 2004 to 2007, Kazachkine was Chairman of the Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee on HIV / AIDS for the World Health Organization (WHO) and a member of the WHO Scientific and Technical Advisory Group on Tuberculosis [4] .
From 2005 to 2007, Kazachkine served as France's global ambassador for HIV / AIDS and infectious diseases [4] .
