The terrorist attack at the Urumqi station occurred on April 30, 2014 in the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the west of the People’s Republic of China [1] .

Assault
April 30, 2014, at about 19:10 local time (15:10 Moscow time) [2] at the Urumqi South Railway Station, the administrative center of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the PRC , between the passenger exit and the bus stop [3] , where the luggage is When the K453 convoy arrived from Chengdu, an explosive device was blown up, after which unknown persons attacked passengers with knives [4] . The situation was taken under control [5] , by 20:30 the station and the area adjacent to it were cordoned off [6] , evacuation began, and train traffic was stopped [7] . The attack occurred on the last day of the visit of President Xi Jinping , during which he promised to intensify the fight against terrorism, saying that

On May 1, the opening ceremony of three railway lines between Urumqi and other cities of the autonomous region was to take place here [16] .
Reaction
PRC President Xi Jinping said that “decisive measures must be taken to suppress the rampant terrorism” [17] [18] , and “make every effort to help the wounded”:
| In the region, social stability and security of all ethnic groups, their normal life and work activities must be ensured. The fight against violence and terrorism does not allow relaxation for even a minute, and decisive steps must be taken to suppress the activities of terrorists. [2] |
During the investigation, the police found that the extremist organization “ Islamic Movement of East Turkestan ” was involved in the attack [19] [20] .
