Biography

Born in the family of Boleslav Drobner , political and statesman, revolutionary.

He graduated from the Krakow Conservatory (now the Krakow Academy of Music ) in composition. In 1931-1939 he conducted at the Krakow Opera.

Until 1937 he studied musicology at the Jagiellonian University .

After the Second World War, he worked at the Ministry of Culture and Art of Poland.

Since 1946 he taught at the State Higher School of Music in Lodz (now the Academy of Music in Lodz ), in 1954-1957 he was the rector of this educational institution.

In 1954, he was one of the founders of the Friends of the Opera Association, which later became the basis for the creation of the Opera House in Lodz. In 1954-1956 was her first artistic director. From 1958 to 1961 he directed the city musical theater in Krakow.

In 1958-1978, he taught at the Krakow State Higher School of Music , where in 1969-1972 he was dean of the faculty of theory, composition and conducting. In Krakow, he also headed the Department of Musical Acoustics.

The author of several works in the field of musical acoustics , including books “Musical Acoustics ” (Akustyka muzyczna, 1953) and “Instrumental Knowledge and Acoustics” (Instrumentoznawstwo i akustyka, 1960).

He was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit (1952) and the Cavalier Cross of the Order of the Renaissance of Poland (1964).

In 1936, his musical composition Bunt szyn (for the male choir with 4 voices a cappella ) was awarded the first prize at the composing competition “Echa Macierzy” in Lviv.
