Biography

Leonid Vladimirovich Martynyuk was born on July 20, 1932 in Gomel , the Belarusian SSR .

Years of youth passed in Minsk , in school years he was engaged in boxing. In 1955 he graduated from Belarusian State University . He worked as a journalist and editor on Belarusian television . In 1966 he graduated from the Higher Courses of Directors and Scriptwriters in Moscow.

He made his debut as a director and screenwriter in 1966 with the short film "The Trap" (based on the story of the same name by Vasil Bykov ). Subsequently, his sports and children's films gained fame [1] .

  • V All-Union Film Festival of Sports Films ( Tallinn , USSR) (1974) - Bronze medal and diploma of the III degree for the film "Big Springboard"
  • All-Union Children's Cinema Week ( Moscow , USSR ) (1975) - Certificate of Merit of the Komsomol Central Committee for the film "The Great Springboard"
  • XV All-Union Film Festival ( Tallinn , USSR ) (1982) - Special Prize of the Komsomol Central Committee for the film “Sails of My Childhood”
  • XXIII International Film Festival ( Gottwald , Czechoslovakia ) (1982) - jury diploma for the film “Sails of My Childhood”
  • II International Film Festival for Children ( Kaunas , Lithuania) (1995) - The main prize of the children's jury for the film "White Lake"
