Early years

Jack Ozburn was born on January 4, 1913 in the city of Murphysboro ( Illinois ). In 1933 he graduated from Monmouth College , where for four years he played for the team Monmouth Fighting Scotts , in which he spent a successful career. Under Ozburn, the Fighting Scotts have never won a regular championship or a Midwest Collegiate Athletic conference tournament, and have never entered the playoffs of the US student championship [1] [2] [3] [4] .

Professional career

He played as a light forward and attacking defender . In 1937, Jack Ozburn entered into an agreement with the Acron Firestone Non-Skids team in the National Basketball League (NBL) . He later played for the Toledo Jim White Chevroletts (NBL) team. In total, the NBL spent 5 seasons. In the 1938/1939 and 1939/1940 seasons, Ozburn, as a teammate of Jerry Bush , Howard Cable and John Moir , became two-time NBL champion in the Acron Firestone Non-Skids. Once included in the 1st team of all the NBL stars ( 1941 ), as well as three consecutive years - in the 2nd team of all the NBL stars ( 1938 - 1940 ) [5] . In total, during his career in the NBL, he played 87 games in which he scored 818 points (an average of 9.4 per game) [6] . In addition, Ozburn participated in the World Professional Basketball Tournament three times as part of Firestone Non-Skids, but without much success.

Death

Jack Ozburn died February 14, 1969 at the 57th year of his life in the city of Akron ( Ohio ) [7] .
