The 71st Venice International Film Festival was held in Venice, Italy, from August 27 to September 6, 2014 [1] . The show opened with a black comedy by Alejandro González Iñárritu “ Birdman ”. The Honorary Golden Lions for their vital contribution to the world of cinema were awarded to editor Telma Schunmaker and director . The main prize, “The Golden Lion ”, was awarded the Swedish philosophical drama “The Pigeon sat on a branch, thinking about life ” (dir. - Roy Andersson ), “ Silver Lion ” was awarded to Russian director Andrei Konchalovsky for the best director, who created the existential film “ White Nights of the Postman” Alexey Tryapitsyna . "

The poster of the festival is dedicated to the director Francois Truffaut . The poster depicts the protagonist of the 1959 film Four Hundred Blows performed by Jean-Pierre Leo [2] .
