Garcia was born in California. His parents were of Mexican descent. He starred in some Mexican films, and also portrayed Mexicans in American films. With the advent of the sound film, his roles became somewhat less, but he worked as an actor until his death.
In the period from 1911 to 1938, he starred in more than 120 films. He often played in silent western films with stars, including Leo Carrillo and Warner Baxter. Best known for his roles in Charlie Chaplin’s films The Gold Rush (1925), The Circus (1928), The Lights of the Big City (1931), and New Times (1936). Also worked as a rental producer for Charlie Chaplin. Garcia made the short film Purple Scar in 1917, but he remained his only job as a director.
Allan Garcia fought to increase pay and improve working conditions for actors, and was one of the founders of the Motion Picture Extras and Supporting Players Association , founded in 1933 [3] .
