Biography
Semyon Osipov was born on September 30, 1919 in the village of Novonikolaevka, Alekseevskaya volost, Tomsk district, Tomsk province (now - Moshkovsky district of the Novosibirsk region ). After graduating from seven grades of the school and school of factory apprenticeship, he worked as a turner at a factory in Novosibirsk . In 1939, Osipov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1941, he graduated from the Khabarovsk Infantry School. Since the beginning of World War II - on its fronts. He was wounded twice in battles [1] .
By March 1944, Captain Semyon Osipov commanded the 3rd motorized rifle battalion of the 20th Guards Mechanized Brigade ( 8th Guards Mechanized Corps , 1st Tank Army , 1st Ukrainian Front ). Distinguished himself during the forcing of the Dniester . On March 24, 1944, Osipov’s battalion was the first in the brigade to cross the Dniester near the Zalishchyky town of the Ternopil region of the Ukrainian SSR and seize a bridgehead on its shore, after which it kept it, repelling German counterattacks, until the main forces crossed [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 26, 1944 for captain Semyon Osipov’s exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown by the guard, he was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal The Star ” [1] .
In the battles on the Western Bug Guard, Major Semyon Osipov was seriously wounded, from whom he died on July 26, 1944 in a hospital. He was buried at the Dubensky cemetery in Rivne , Ukraine [1] .
