Content
AppearanceBody length 22-24 cm, tail 6 cm; weight - 121-156 g. The main color of the plumage is olive-gray. Lower body with a bluish-green tint. Chest and ears with a gray tint. There is a large yellow spot on the fold of the wing, the same color and the lower part of the “panties”. The beak is black. Paws are gray. The iris is red-orange. The female has a blue back and overshade, a light blue underwings.
DistributionIt lives in Namibia and in the south of Angola .
LifestyleIt is inhabited by spiny shrub savannas , woods, dry semi-arid thickets to an altitude of 1400 m above sea level.
Named after the German naturalist and researcher Edward Rüppel .
