“ Day of the Turkmen Horse ” is a national holiday , which is annually celebrated in Turkmenistan on the last Sunday of April [1] [2] . The holiday is dedicated to the Akhal-Teke horse - the oldest of the cultural breeds of horses.

Content
History
The holiday was established in 1992.
On the eve of the holiday, meetings of the International Association of Akhal-Teke horse breeding, exhibitions, fairs and international scientific conferences are held. The festival center has traditionally been the International Equestrian Center , which is located in the Prikopetdag Valley [3] . On the day of the holiday, a competition is held for the title of champion of the breed among horses, horse racing , show jumping competitions, performances of horsemen, dance performances with the participation of horses, an exhibition - brood of Akhal-Teke horses [4] . After the ceremony of awarding the winners of the festive races and other equestrian tournaments [5] . Guests of the holiday are often the leaders of foreign states [6] [7] .
The government of Turkmenistan is doing a lot to make the celebration as wide as possible. Concerts, exhibitions, literary-musical and poetic evenings, honoring horse breeders and seisis of the country are held throughout the country.
