The Jomolungma webcam is located on Mount Kala Pathar at an altitude of 5675 meters above sea level [1] (according to other sources - 5643 m. [2] ), is directed to the top of the Jomolungma and is the highest installed webcam in the world [3] [ 4] .
This webcam was installed by Italian scientists on May 17, 2011 [5] as part of the Everest Share 2011 research project studying global climate change, and works in conjunction with the Jomolungma weather station, located at an altitude of 8000 meters above sea level.
The highest webcam in the world was made by the German company Mobotix , a model of the M-12 type [2] . It is powered by a solar panel and operates from 6.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. local time . The lower temperature limit of the camera is -30 ° C [2] . The video taken by the camera is wirelessly transmitted to the laboratory-observatory Ev-K2-CNR Pyramid , located on the slope of the Jomolungma at an altitude of 5050 meters above sea level, where the video is analyzed and sent to Italy for further processing [2] .
This camera was the highest working webcam in the world from May 17, 2011 to 2015, “taking” this title from the camera of Mount Aconcagua ( Argentina ), operating at an altitude of 4389 meters above sea level [1] .
