Biography
Alexander Osipov was born on September 10, 1912 in the village of Sloboda Zharkovka (now within the city of Kirsanov, Tambov Region ). After finishing seven classes of the school, he worked at the elevator. In 1935 - 1937 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In July 1941, Osipov was re-drafted into the army. In the same year he graduated from the Tambov Infantry School. Since April 1942 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By September 1943, Captain Alexander Osipov commanded a battalion of the 229th Infantry Regiment of the 8th Infantry Division of the 13th Army of the Central Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of the Ukrainian SSR . In September 1943, Osipov’s battalion successfully crossed the Desna River to the south-west of Chernigov , and then across Pripyat to the north of the village of Kashovka in the Chernobyl region of the Kiev region , capturing bridgeheads and successfully holding them to the crossing of the main forces [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, for "exemplary performance of command missions on the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism" captain Alexander Osipov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal " Under the number 1216 [1] .
After the war ended, in the rank of Major Osipov was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked in Tambov . He died on August 18, 1963, was buried in Tambov [1] .
He was also awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
