Content
The early years
Stan Patrick was born on May 5, 1922 in the city of Chicago ( Illinois ), where he studied at the Leo Catholic School, in which he played for the local basketball team. In 1944 he graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , where for three years he played for the Illinois Fighting Illini team, in which he spent a successful student career. Under Patrick's “Fighting Illini” twice won the regular championship of the Big Ten conference (1942-1943), and also once went into the playoffs of the US student championship (1942) [1] [2] [3] .
Professional career
He played as a light forward and attacking defender . In 1947, Stan Patrick entered into an agreement with the Chicago American Gears team, playing in the National Basketball League (NBL) and the Professional Basketball League of America (UPLA) . He later played for the Midland Dow Aces (NBL), Hammond Calumet Buccaneers (NBL), Waterlox Hawks ( NBA ), Sheboygan Red Skins (NBA) and Kansas City High Spot ( NBL ). . In total, he spent 5 seasons in the NBL, and 1 season each in the NBA, UPLA and NPL. In the 1946–1947 season, Patrick, as a teammate of Bobby McDermott , George Miken , Bob Calihan, and Dick Triptow , won the Chicago American Gears title . In 1945 he was included in the 1st national team of all the NBL stars , and was also recognized as the rookie of the year of the NBL [4] . In total, during his career in the NBL, Stan played 212 games in which he scored 1765 points (an average of 8.3 per game), simultaneously becoming the 13th most successful NBL player in the history of the league [5] . In total , Patrick played 53 games during his career in the NBA , in which he scored 321 points (an average of 6.1 per game) and made 74 assists [6] . In addition, Patrick as part of "American Gears" three times participated in the World Professional Basketball Tournament , but without much success.
Death
Stan Patrick died on January 1, 2000, at the 78th year of his life in the city of Belvidir ( Boone County, Illinois ) [7] .
