Life and career
Morton was born in Oak Park , Illinois and spent most of her career on the Chicago theater stage. Since 1997, she has been a member of the main actor group Steppenwolf Theater Company, where she has played more than thirty roles [1] . On her Broadway stage, she made her debut in 2001, with a role in the play " Flying Over the Cuckoo's Nest ." She starred in the original Chicago and subsequent Broadway productions of August: Osage County, which earned her a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play in 2008 [1] [2] . The role of Morton in the film of the same name was later played by Julia Roberts . She received her second Tony nomination in 2013, for her lead role in the play Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? ", But lost the Cisele Tyson Award [3] .
In addition to his career on stage, Morton has appeared in several films, the most significant of which is “ I would go to heaven ” (2009) [4] . On television, she appeared in the TV series Ambulance , Private Practice , Homeland , Blue Blood , and Girls , and also had significant secondary roles in Boss , Chicago Firefighters , and Chicago Police [ 5] . In Chicago Police, she was promoted to regular membership starting in season two [6] .
