Biography
His parents were Assyrians who emigrated to the United States from Urmia (northwest Iran) [1] . Educated at the University of Chicago (bachelor, master, doctor, 1958).

- 1975 - Bancroft Prize (Columbia University) - for the book "Containment in American Foreign Policy: Theory and Practice."
- 1983 - McCurthur Foundation Scholarship .
- 1997 - Award from the US National Academy for research related to the prevention of nuclear war.
