Biography
Born in the city of Kronstadt, Leningrad Region in 1958.
Theater critics, members of the press and audiences celebrate Yevgeny Lantsov’s performances staged according to classical texts (Antigone by J. Anuy, Uncle Vanya A. Chekhov, Pygmalion B. Shaw) and contemporary drama (Sliding Luche "L. S. Chernyauskaite," Maryino Field "by O. Bogaev," Jester Balakirev "by G. Gorin," Russian and Literature "by M. Osipov", etc.).
In 2000, Yevgeny Lantsov staged the play "Antigone" based on the play by Jean Anui (a joint project of the Chelyabinsk Children's Theater School and the New Art Theater), which was successfully performed at festivals of different levels. In the period from 2001 to 2002, Yevgeny Lantsov headed the Lysvensky Municipal Drama Theater named after A. Savin, from 2002 to 2006 - the Kemerovo Regional Drama Theater named after A.V. Lunacharsky, from 2006 to 2010 - the Chamber Theater (Yekaterinburg) of the United Museum of Writers of the Urals. In 2001, at the festival “Theater without Borders” (Magnitogorsk), he presented performances from two theaters - “Thursday's Smoke” N. Skorokhod (Nyagan) and “Biography” by M. Frisch (Lysva). In 2004, Yevgeny Yuryevich brought “Sliding Luce” (Kemerovo) to the festival of the contemporary play “New Drama” (St. Petersburg) - this play by Laura Chernyauskaite, which is now quite well known as S. Peltola’s play “Little Money”, was the first in Russia. Also, “Moving Luche” was shown at the VIII Theater Festival “Camerata” (Chelyabinsk, 2004). In 2011, Yevgeny Lantsov, together with the critic and journalist Vladimir Speshkov, organized the Center for Contemporary Dramaturgy in Chelyabinsk on the basis of the House of Actor (STD in Chelyabinsk), which still exists today. Vladimir Speshkov so appreciates the work of the director:
“The creative geography of Lantsov is bizarre, but the creative biography, creative person, the system of theatrical principles and views, it seems to me, the further, the more fully defined and recognizable. These are the principles of the Russian repertoire theater, home theater, the search for a nonrandom, impassable, deep relationship with the actor and the audience, not ostentatious, but a true interest in Russian history, religion, and the value system of our and our ancestors today ”
Evgeny Yuryevich began his work in the Russian Republican Drama Theater named after M. Yu. Lermontov with the laboratory project “New Drama in Khakassia”, the purpose of which was to familiarize the theater with modern drama and update the repertoire, the main tasks are to find and attract new, in particular, young spectator, increasing the image of the theater in the Republic of Khakassia, revealing the creative capabilities of the troupe. Today, more than half of theater posters are performances created according to modern plays. As the main director of the theater, Yevgeny Yurievich submitted the idea of the project of the theater of the theater for children “Tales of the World”, the main task of which was to educate the young generation and attract a family audience to the theater. Also, under his leadership, the project “Theater Lessons for Schoolchildren” was opened, introducing the students of Khakassia to the classical literary heritage. Both children's projects are aimed at cultivating an active audience resource. Among the performances by E. Yu. Lantsov staged at the M. Yu. Lermontov Russian Theater, the most interesting was the performance “Russian and Literature”, which received an invitation to participate in the “New Play” project of the Russian National Theater Prize and the Golden Mask festival 2014 ” [1] . Critic Kristina Matvienko in her article “The Code is Known” writes that
“Abakan's“ Russian and Literature ”, directed by the director of the older generation, has become an example of how the theater, bypassing the fateful zone of“ entertainment ”, offers the viewer a concrete conversation about today's social and existential issues”
The youth performance “Motorcycle” based on the play “The Killer” by A. Molchanov was also noted by the theater community. In particular, Alexander Lavrov, comparing the production of the Russian Theater with others, came to the following conclusion:
“For the first time at Lantsov I felt a certain commonality of the inner life of the characters, a tense field of souls and voices coming towards each other.”
