Biography

Born on August 30, 1910 in the village of Kalinino [1] in a peasant family. He graduated from the seven-year school and school trade schools . After graduating from the A. S. Bubnov Moscow Pedagogical Institute in 1933, he worked as a teacher of geography at a school in Naryan-Mar, a teacher at a pedagogical technical school of the peoples of the Far North. In 1937–1941, he studied at Tomsk State University . In August 1941, the Gavrilov-Yamsky District Military Committee of the Yaroslavl Region was called up to the Red Army . In 1942 he graduated from the courses of junior lieutenants.

Since August 1942 he fought on the Stalingrad , Donskoy , Voronezh fronts.

On September 25, 1943, the 7th rifle company led by the company commander of the guard Lieutenant Shishkin under a strong artillery-mortar and machine-gun fire, as well as aerial bombardment, forced the Dnieper River near the village of Balyko-Shchuchinka . After a fierce battle that lasted about five hours, he knocked the enemy out of the fortified point. In three days of fighting, Shishkin’s company repulsed more than 30 enemy counterattacks, destroying up to the company of German soldiers and officers. On September 28, being seriously wounded, Shishkin continued to manage the battle of his unit and only after the arrival of reinforcements left the battlefield [2] .

By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 13, 1943, for successfully crossing the Dnieper River, firmly fixing the bridgehead on the west bank of the Dnieper River and showing courage and heroism of the Guard Lieutenant Alexander Ivanovich Shishkin, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and awarded the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal. " [2] .

After the hospital treatment in 1946, he was discharged for health reasons. In 1947 he graduated from the graduate school at the Yaroslavl Pedagogical Institute. He worked as an assistant at the departments of geography in pedagogical institutes. In 1953 he returned to Gavrilov-Yam , worked as a teacher of geography.
