Gene Shealy is an American athlete. At the 1928 Olympics, she took 4th place. Champion of the USA in 1929-1932.

At the 1932 Olympics, along with her compatriot, Babe Didrickson was the main contender for the gold medal. During the competition, she overcame a height of 1.65 m on the first try, and Didrikson on the second. Both athletes did not overcome the height of 1.67 m. Thus, according to the attempts, Gene Shili won with a final result of 1.65 m, which also became a new world record . Also, this result was a national record until 1948.
Biography
She studied at a high school in Haverford, where she studied basketball. Her ability to jump high was noticed by a local correspondent, who suggested trying his hand at high jumps. At 16, she performed at the Olympics in Amsterdam, where she took 4th place.
