National University of Theater and Cinema "I. L. Carajale ” ( rum. Universității Naționale de Artă Teatrală și Cinematografică“ IL Caragiale ” ) is a state higher education institution in the capital of Romania - Bucharest , one of the most popular universities in Romania, which trains theater and film specialists.

History
The first theater department in Romania began its activities in 1834 at the Philharmonic School. The faculty of directing was opened in 1948 at the Romanian Art Institute (1948-1950) and became the center of higher education in the field of Romanian art.
In 1950, the Institute of Cinema and the Theater Institute. I. L. Karadzhale (named after the classic of the Romanian drama Ion Luka Karadzhale ).
In 1954, two educational institutions were merged into the Institute of Theater and Cinema “I. L. Karajale ”(IATC). The institute by this name functioned until 1990, after which it became the Academy of Theater and Cinema (ATF).
In 1998, the Academy of Theater and Cinema was reorganized into the University of Theater and Cinema “I. L. Karadzhale ”(UATK).
Since 2001, the National University of Theater and Cinema "I. L. Karajale ”(UNATC).
Structure
The university has two faculties:
- Theatrical and
- Cinematic
Specialists are trained in 10 areas within the first training cycle (3 years), in 16 specialties in the second training cycle (master classes - 2 years) and a doctoral program, in a wide range of disciplines: from acting and pedagogy of the art of theater and cinema theater, cinema, choreography, puppet theater and puppets, to study theater art, cultural development management, photography, multimedia, editing, sound production, design, dramaturgy, audiovisual communication and many about another.
Over the years, the UNATC has offered talented graduates who have made a significant contribution to national and world culture, but the most outstanding merit or not is to be a breeding ground for talent and values, but the fact that, from the very beginning, was the first meeting place for artists and mergers of different generations.
