Alexey Givievich Aleksishvili ( Georgian ალექსი გივის ძე ალექსიშვილი , b. 1974 , Tbilisi , Georgia ) - Georgian political figure, Minister of Finance of Georgia ( June 30, 2005 - August 30, 2007), President of the National Bank of Georgia (from August 30, 2007 ) .

Education

He graduated from the Economics Department of Tbilisi State University in 1996, in 2002-2004 he completed an internship and graduated from Duke University , Durham , North Carolina, USA, master's degree in the International Development Policy program, majoring in Public Finance and Management [1] .

Career

After graduating in 1996-1999, he worked at the Tbilisi Institute of Economic Relations, while he was also the chief specialist of the Georgian Parliament . In 1999-2001 - Assistant to the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Zurab Zhvania . From April 1991, a member of the Association of Young Economists of Georgia , and from 1994 to 2001 its chairman, has maintained membership in the association to date.

From April 2001 to June 2002 he worked as Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia, and from July 2004 to December - First Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia. December 17, 2004 became Minister of Economic Development. The successor to Kakha Bendukidze ’s course on liberal economic reforms [1] .

From June 2005 to September 2007, the Minister of Finance of Georgia [2] .

Alexey Aleksishvili was elected chairman of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development in the 2006 Cadence. During his chairmanship, the 14th UNCSD session focused on work in the following areas: energy for sustainable development, climate change, air pollution and pollution control, industrial development [3] .

On August 30, 2007, he was appointed President of the National Bank of Georgia [4] .

From February 2008 to December 2008, Aleksishvili joined the board of directors of the investment holding Kala Capital LLC , which led the creation of one of the largest subsidiaries, Progress Bank JSC. In June 2010, Aleksishvili was a participant and speaker at the regional meeting “Introduction to Identifying and Managing Financial Risks for Energy Projects”, Vienna, Austria, organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency . He was also a participant and speaker at the Eurasia Emerging Markets Forum, Thun , Switzerland.

From December 2007 to the present, Aleksishvili has been chairman of the board of directors of the Policy and Management Advisory Group ( PMCG ), one of the leading regional consulting companies. He directs the strategic activities of the company in Georgia and other CIS countries. Participates in various national, regional and international projects related to fiscal policy reforms and economic development [5] .
