The National Library of Albania ( Alb. Biblioteka Kombëtare e Shqipërisë ) is located in the capital Tirana [1] . It was founded in 1920 [2] and officially opened on December 10, 1922 [2] [3] .

The National Library of Albania (NBA) is the most important national cultural institute and the oldest in the Albanian state. The library occupies 2 buildings and is managed by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports of Albania. The library’s tasks include collecting, processing, restoring, storing and bringing written and other materials to the readers about the historical and cultural heritage of the Albanian people. At the national level, it organizes library training and professional development, and also serves as a research center in the field of library science.
Library collections include books, periodicals, maps, atlases, microfilms, and other library storage units. Separate collections are interesting both in the context of the Albanian and European cultures. The library is usually open 72 hours a week for people over 16 years old.
