High Court of Bhutan

The High Court of Bhutan, in accordance with the 2008 Constitution of Bhutan, consists of a head judge and eight drangpons (legal advisers). The Chief Justice and the Drangpons of the High Court are appointed by the King of Bhutan from among reputable lawyers. The judges of the High Court are in office for a 10-year term, or until they reach the age of 60 (this is an exception to the general legislative norm - the retirement age for other civil servants in Bhutan is 65 years).
