In 2007 he was awarded the MV Lomonosov Great Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences for outstanding works on the early ethnopolitical and cultural history of Russia and a significant contribution to the study of ancient written tradition and monuments of ancient Russian literature [1]
