Barnaul district is an administrative-territorial unit within the Altai Territory , which existed in 1938-1957. The center is the city of Chesnokovka .

Barnaul (rural) district was formed on September 16, 1938 as part of the Altai Territory. The area includes territories formerly subordinate to the Barnaul City Council. The center of the district was initially the city of Barnaul, on January 27, 1939 the center was moved to the working village of Chesnokovka (industrial area since 1936, the city since May 8, 1942, since April 18, 1962 it is the city of Novoaltaysk). Since January 11, 1950, the center of the district was the village of Povalyha.
According to 1940, the Barnaul district was divided into 16 village councils: Bazhensky, Beloyarsky, Belmesevsky, Beschentsovsky, Bobrovsky, Vlasikhinsky, Gonbinsky, Zudilovsky, Lebyazhinsky, Malo-Kazarmensky, Novo-Mikhailovsky, Povaliikhinsky, Rasskazikhinsky, Sadnikovsky, Sorochovskiy, Lorovsovsky, Sorochovskiy, Sorochovskiy, Sorovskiy, Sorochovskiy, Sorovskiy, Sorochovskiy, Sornikovskiy, Sorovskiy, Sorochovskiy, Sornikovskiy, Lakes.
On May 19, 1955, the Barnaul district was renamed the Chesnokovsky district .
On November 26, 1957, the Chesnokovsky district was abolished, and its territory was divided between Kosikhinsky , Krajushkinsky and Pavlovsky districts.
