Biography
Born December 29, 1921 in the village of Polevsky . He graduated from 5 classes at school number 1. Since 1938 he worked at the Polevsky cryolite plant. In April 1940 he switched to a pyrite sulfur mine by a loader.
He was drafted into the army in April 1941. In June 1941, in the very first battles with the Germans, the driver of the T-34 tank was seriously wounded. He was treated at the hospital for almost a year, then returned to the front and, as part of the 267th tank battalion of the 23rd tank brigade of the 9th tank corps, reached Berlin .
During the war he was wounded three times, burned in a tank. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to Senior Sergeant Nikolai Sergeyevich Polezhaev on February 27, 1945 for courageous and selfless actions during the crossing of the tank corps across the Vartu River.
He was awarded the orders of Lenin, World War II degree, Red Star, several medals.
Nikolai Sergeevich was a participant in the Victory Parade on June 24, 1945.
In 1946, he was discharged with the rank of foreman. He returned to his native Polevsky disabled person of the third group. Settled in the parental home, soon married.
He worked as a chauffeur in the Polevsky timber industry enterprise, a lifter, a loader at the Polevsky cryolite plant (since 1954), a driver, a car repairman in the Polevsky car fleet (since 1956), a slinger in the woodworking shop of the Seversky reinforced concrete products plant (1966-1974).
He died on June 22, 1974 from heart failure at the age of 52. He was buried in Polevsky in the Southern cemetery.
Memory
One of the streets in the northern part of the city of Polevsky and a military tank unit in Kaliningrad, in which he served, were named after Nikolai Polezhaev.
In 1965, in the city of Polevskoy, on house No. 17/2, on Belinsky Street, where the Hero lived in the 50-70s, a marble memorial plaque was installed. Now it is stored in the museum of school number 1.
Since 2005, on the administrative building of the Polevsky motor transport enterprise, on 101 Volodarsky Street, there is another memorial plaque. The third plaque from 2013 hangs at the entrance to secondary school No. 1, on the street. Malysheva, 65.
Family
Nikolai had two sisters. With his wife Nina Georgievna they lived more than 30 years, raised their daughter Lyuba and son Alexander.
