Biography
Konstantin Ovsyannikov was born in 1907 in the village of Samodurovka (now Igishevo, Ponyrovsky District, Kursk Region ). After elementary school, he worked on a collective farm . In February 1943, Ovsyannikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. From the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By September 1943, Sergeant Konstantin Ovsyannikov was in command of the 1035th Infantry Regiment of the 280th Infantry Division of the 60th Army of the Central Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On September 27, 1943, Ovsyannikov’s branch was one of the first to cross the Dnieper in the Rotichi village of the Chernobyl district of the Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore. In those battles, Ovsyannikov was seriously wounded, from whom he died on October 2, 1943. He was buried in the village of Kosachivka, Kozeletsky district, Chernihiv region of Ukraine [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943 for “courage and heroism shown in crossing the Dnieper and keeping the bridgehead on its right bank,” Sergeant Konstantin Ovsyannikov was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [1] .
