Maple Semenova ( Latin Ácer semenóvii ) is a type of maple widely distributed in Central Asia ( Tien Shan , Eastern Pamir-Alai ), Kazakhstan , Afghanistan and Iran . It was named after the Russian traveler Semenov-Tyan-Shansky , first found in the mountains of Central Asia [3] [4] [5] .

According to modern ideas, the name Acer semenovii is considered to be synonymous with the real name Acer tataricum subsp. semenovii [6] .
Maple Semenova grows on the slopes and gorges of mountains, in river valleys, shrubs and broad-leaved forests, at altitudes from 700 to 2800 m.
Deciduous tree 5-6 m high with a tent-like spreading crown [3] [4] [5] .
The bark is gray, smooth or wrinkled longitudinally with brown or brown shoots.
The leaves are dense, three-lobed, dull on top, bluish-green, lighter on the lower side 4.5 x 3.2 cm in size. Leaf blades ovate or triangular-ovate, 2-5 cm long and 1-3.5 cm wide. The flowers are yellowish, in dense, multi-flowered inflorescences up to 6 cm long and about 5 mm in diameter.
Fruits - lionfish from 2.8 to 3.5 cm long, at the beginning of development bright red or bright pink, ripe - light yellow.

Differences from similar species
Externally and morphologically, it resembles the Ginnal maple and the Tatar maple close to it. It differs from them in smaller sizes [3] [4] [5] .
Distributed in Central Asia ( Tien Shan , Eastern Pamir-Alai ), Kazakhstan , Afghanistan and Iran . In Kazakhstan it grows in Dzhungarsky, Zailiysky, Kyrgyz, Kungei and Terskey Alatau, hr. Ketmen, Chu-Ili mountains, Karatau, Western Tien Shan [5] .
Propagated by cuttings and seeds.
Maple Semenova is used in hedges, borders and group planting. Recommended for afforestation of mountain slopes. Drought-freezing, frost-resistant [3] [4] [5] .
